Tottenham make enquiry for Xavi Simons
Thomas Frank’s Tottenham Hotspur have enquired about the availability of RB Leipzig attacking mainstay Xavi Simons.
Following the arrival of Thomas Frank at the club, Tottenham are now all set to make moves in the summer transfer window. While they have already made Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso’s moves permanent, Spurs still seek more quality ahead of next season.
They want to bring in players who can help the former Brentford manager implement his style better. The North London club are interested in adding more firepower to their attack, and they have their eyes set on Xavi Simons. According to Ben Jacobs via TBR, Tottenham have made an active enquiry about the Dutch international’s availability.
Jacobs’ take on Simons’ future
While speaking about the RB Leipzig star’s future, the transfer expert said: “You have a couple of suitors that are looking, one is Bayern Munich, outside the Premier League who are going to spend some serious money.
“You have Tottenham, who could be ones to watch, they’re going to be looking for a right-sided attacker first, but don’t rule out this kind of profile for them as well.
“Historically, you’ve had Chelsea and Manchester United who have taken a look. Arsenal have discussed the player as well.
“At the moment, I can only tell you about Spurs, who have made an active enquiry to just understand on the player’s side the desire and price, but nothing advanced.
“It might be the kind of deal that happens later in the window, we were speaking earlier about how Son is going to go off and do pre-season with Spurs and then decide after that decide his future.”
Simons joined RB Leipzig on a two-season-long loan deal before the German club made the move permanent during the last winter window for £50 million. However, just six months later, the 22-year-old is now open to a new challenge after impressing over the last two campaigns.
Tottenham enquire about Simons
While German giants Bayern Munich are in the race for his signature, Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping a close eye on the situation. Although their priority is to sign a right-sided winger, Simons, who thrives in the number ten role and can also operate on either flank, could be an attractive option for Thomas Frank’s side.
With Son Heung-min’s future also up in the air, the Dutch international could be just the perfect signing for them. They have already enquired about the availability of the player and how much a potential deal might cost. While Spurs have made an active enquiry, they haven’t made any concrete moves just yet.
Meanwhile, Spurs might end up facing a lot of competition for the signature of Simons. Bayern Munich could be the biggest threat. The German giants are willing to big this summer and they do have a great track record of signing the best players from their rival clubs.
