According to TBR, Benjamin Sesko is reportedly frustrated at his club RB Leipzig for their increased demands for his sale. The Slovenian striker believes the Bundesliga giants have backtracked on their ‘Gentleman’s Agreement’ with his asking price, while fearing that Arsenal might move on to other targets, such as Viktor Gyokeres.
Arsenal appointed Andrea Berta has been busy with recruiting his top striker for the summer, although there are multiple options on their list. The Italian Sporting Director had identified Viktor Gyokeres as his main target, although the overall consensus from the club points towards a preference for Benjamin Sesko.
Sticking with the latter, there have been plenty of movements surrounding the Slovenian’s transfer. Fresh talks were planned, and over the last few days, those conversations have ramped up between all parties as the Gunners are also looking to agree on personal terms.
There’s a belief that personal terms are not understood to be a huge issue for the club, as the player may have made his intentions clear on his preference to join the Gunners. However, there’s a big task ahead of Arsenal in terms of agreeing on a fee with RB Leipzig, which has been causing concerns for Sesko.
The striker has already relayed his preference to stay in Europe amid recent interest from Saudi Arabia, with all indications pointing towards Arsenal as his next destination. The Gunners have also given Leipzig a deadline to make a definitive decision on the striker’s future, as the German side continues to demand Sesko’s full release clause of €80 million, something the Gunners are not prepared to meet.
Sesko is growing frustrated at Leipzig as he believes the club have backtracked on a reported ‘Gentleman’s Agreement’ he had with them last summer. Back then, the Slovenian rejected a move to Arsenal as he wanted to stay for another season, as the report states Leipzig reportedly told him they would accept offers of around €70 million.
Now that Leipzig are demanding the entire €80 million, Sesko fears the Gunners might move on from him and sign an alternative target. Arsenal are indeed poised to place a bid for Viktor Gyokeres, which could cause concerns in the Sesko camp, as the striker will hope the two clubs can agree to the transfer in the coming days.
