Benjamin Sesko demands release clause in contract to join Arsenal

Benjamin Sesko has reportedly shocked Arsenal by demanding a release clause in his contract if he joins the North London club from RB Leipzig this summer.

According to a report by Duncan Castles on Football Transfers, Benjamin Sesko is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are keen on bolstering their offensive unit by signing a striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 22-year-old RB Leipzig centre-forward has emerged as a target for the North London club.

However, the highly-rated striker has stunned Arsenal by demanding a release clause in his deal if he joins the North London club from RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window. Sesko “would like that release clause to be set at just 20% increase on whatever price they [Arsenal] end up paying for him”.

Benjamin Sesko and his soaring stock

Benjamin Sesko has established himself as one of the best young strikers in the world since his time at Red Bull Salzburg. The 22-year-old has come leaps and bounds since moving between sister clubs, going from strength to strength in the last two years.

The Slovenian international enjoyed a solid 2024/25 campaign, contributing to 27 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions by finding the back of the net 21 times and providing six assists. Meanwhile, Sesko’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Arsenal, heading into the summer transfer window.

London calling?

Arsenal’s interest in Benjamin Sesko is understandable. The Gunners are scouring the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window after Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz struggled to remain prolific in front of the goal in the 2024/25 season. So, Sesko has emerged as the top striker target for Arsenal.

However, a summer move may have seen a stumbling block, with Sesko demanding a release clause to join Arsenal from RB Leipzig. The youngster “would like that release clause to be set at just 20% increase on whatever price they [Arsenal] end up paying for him”.

Sesko’s demands may push Arsenal to consider signing Viktor Gyokeres, with the Swedish striker keen on joining the North London club in the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see if the Gunners sign the 22-year-old Slovenian international or turn their attention towards Gyokeres.
