According to a report from Foot Mercato, Samuel Gigot (31) is set to remain at SS Lazio, with the Italian side triggering specific sporting conditions to make their loan agreement with Olympique de Marseille permanent for a fee believed to be €3.5 million.
The Frenchman joined Lazio on deadline day in the 2024 summer transfer window, after losing his place in the Marseille squad following the arrival of head coach Roberto De Zerbi. Gigot had prior to this been a key part of the team, and even deputised as captain in the absence of Valentin Rongier.
There had been reports before his loan to Lazio that the centre-back had envisioned remaining at Marseille until the end of his career. However, his future now looks tied to the Italian club where he made 23 appearances across all competitions. After a final day defeat to US Lecce, Lazio fell short of their goal of qualifying for a European competition.
