The productive summer being enjoyed by those behind the scenes at La Liga outfit Espanyol has on Friday continued.
This comes amid confirmation of another pair of signings for next season.
First through the door is left-back Carlos Romero, who, after a fine season on loan at the RCDE Stadium in 2024/25, has returned for another temporary spell.
As per a statement across Espanyol’s website and social media platforms:
‘RCD Espanyol and Villarreal CF have reached an agreement to extend the loan of Carlos Romero for another season. The defender, who was one of the players most used by coach Manolo González, will continue to defend the blue-and-white shirt for another season.’

El defensa continuarà al conjunt blanc-i-blau una temporada més 👏
And just hours on from Romero’s return being made official, a 2nd comeback has been announced, too.
Not only that, but it may prove to be the most significant of Espanyol’s summer window when all is said and done.
After shining on his way to six goals across a loan spell from Braga for the 2nd half of the recently-completed season, striker Roberto Fernández has headed straight back to Catalunya, on this occasion on a permanent basis:
‘RCD Espanyol and Sporting Clube de Braga have reached an agreement for the transfer of striker Roberto Fernández. The white-and-blue club has acquired 50% of the rights of the player, who signs a contract for six seasons. In this agreement, RCD Espanyol reserves the possibility of acquiring the remaining 50% of the rights in the future.’

El club ha adquirit el 50% dels drets del jugador, que signa per sis temporades.
Romero and Fernández add to the previous arrivals of all of Marko Dmitrović, Hugo Pérez, Marcos Fernández, Miguel Rubio, Kike García and José Salinas at Espanyol this summer.
