Arsenal have offer rejected for Cristhian Mosquera

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have suffered a massive blow in their pursuit of Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera.

After a disappointing 2024/25 season, Arsenal are looking to add more quality to their squad. While their priority is to reinforce their attack, they are also on the lookout for a new central defender to further strengthen their rotation.

The North London club have their eyes set on Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera, and according to Radio Marca Valencia, the Gunners knocked on the doors of the Spanish club with an offer. However, their proposal wasn’t good enough, and it was turned down.

Mosquera has come up the ranks at Valencia. He got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2023 and hasn’t looked back since. The 21-year-old has established himself as a key figure in the team, and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed.

He was involved in a total of 41 fixtures last season and was one of their standout performers. With him entering the final year of his deal at his childhood club, his future has become a massive talking point.

Arsenal making moves to sign Mosquera

Multiple top clubs see this as an opportunity to sign a young world-class defender for a cut-price fee. Arsenal are one of the clubs that are keen on his signature. While the Gunners have a lot of quality options at the back, Arteta is looking to further strengthen their defensive rotation.

Mosquera will most likely be a backup option for now, but given his massive potential, he could go on to become one of their mainstays in the future. As a result, the North London club are ready to invest in him. They recently submitted an initial offer for the 21-year-old.

However, their bid, which was below €20 million, has been turned down by Valencia. The Spanish club are reluctant to sell and they are looking to hand him a new long-term contract, but are yet to present him with a formal offer.

If they fail to secure his long-term future with a new deal, Valencia will then have to consider cashing in on him. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if Arsenal submit an improved offer in the coming days.
