According to Alfredo Pedula, Manchester United and angling for a move for Marco Carnesecchi ahead of the summer. Atalanta might be open to selling the Italian keeper for a fee of around €45-50 million with the Red Devils currently preparing an offer of €40 million.
Marco Carnesecchi has been a mainstay at Atalanta, with the keeper playing an instrumental role in their Europa League success during the 2023-24 season. He has made a total of 76 appearances for the Bergamo side, and now, there’s a chance of making a big move to the Premier League.
Atalanta are eager to secure at least €45-50 million for the Italian goalkeeper, who is viewed as one of the highly-rated stars in his position. Manchester United had initiated contact for Carnesecchi, as Ruben Amorim continues to scour the market for a viable No.1 option to succeed Andre Onana.
The report states that Manchester United are readying a €40 million offer for the Italian stopper, which may fall short of Atalanta’s valuation. In such scenarios, there’s always a wriggle room to compromise, as the Red Devils will hope for the same when discussing terms with the Bergamo side for the €45-50 million-rated Serie A goalkeeper.
The report also suggests that even though Manchester United are ready to make a move for the Atalanta stopper, they will only sign him once they can offload Andre Onana. Monaco are linked with the Cameroonian keeper, while there are suitors from Saudi Arabia, with the Red Devils seriously aiming to get a good enough fee for the underfire stopper.
Carnesecchi is only the latest to feature on Manchester United’s list of goalkeepers, as there have been plenty of names before. The club seemingly preferred Emiliano Martinez to replace Onana, and despite reports of an approach, things have not moved forward with regards to the Argentine World Cup winner.
Lucas Chevalier is also a target for Manchester United, as Aston Villa are ready to challenge them for the Frenchman. Carnesecchi is a viable target with the prospect of taking over the No.1 slot for years to come at Old Trafford. The goalkeeper search at Manchester United will be an interesting space to watch, as more names are likely to be added to their radar in the coming weeks.
