West Ham United in transfer tussle to sign Tyler Morton

West Ham United will reportedly look to sign 22-year-old English midfielder Tyler Morton from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Portuguese outlet O Jogo, Tyler Morton is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are eager to reinforce their midfield unit in the summer transfer window and have set their sights on the Liverpool midfielder. However, the East London outfit will face stiff competition from Ajax, Club Brugge, and SC Braga for the 22-year-old whizkid.

Tyler Morton and his Liverpool limbo

Tyler Morton has struggled to stamp his authority since breaking into the first-team squad at Liverpool FC. A native of Wallasey, the Englishman spent his formative years in his homeland, joining Liverpool as a seven-year-old in 2009 before progressing through the ranks at the Merseyside club.

The 22-year-old broke into the first-team squad at Liverpool FC in the early days of the 2021/22 season and enjoyed his breakthrough at the Merseyside club. Morton subsequently embarked on loan spells in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 campaigns but remained with Liverpool last summer.

However, the English midfield prospect barely featured for Liverpool in the 2024/25 season, managing only 261 minutes of game time across five appearances in all competitions. That has not affected Morton’s stocks, with several well-known clubs across Europe setting their sights on him. West Ham United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

West Ham United’s interest in Tyler Morton is understandable. The Hammers are scouring the market for a versatile midfielder this summer after Carlos Soler and Guido Rodriguez failed to make their mark in the 2024/25 season. In addition, recent reports have linked Tomas Soucek with a move away from West Ham United.

So, several candidates, including Joao Palhinha, have emerged on West Ham United’s radar, with Morton also a viable target. However, the East London club will face stiff competition from Ajax, Club Brugge, and SC Braga for the Englishman’s signature, with a move away from Liverpool on the cards.

However, it is unclear how much Liverpool will demand to part ways with Morton in the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see if West Ham can beat Ajax, Club Brugge, and SC Braga to sign the 22-year-old English midfielder from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
