Manchester United have agreement in place for Matheus Cunha

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United are closing in on the signature of Arsenal attacking target Matheus Cunha.

According to a report from Goal, Manchester United have an agreement in place to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves. The Red Devils are all set to trigger his release clause to get a deal over the line and beat rivals Arsenal to his signature.

Things might not have worked out for Cunha at Atletico Madrid but he has certainly got his career back on track since joining Wolves back in 2023. He has established himself as one of the best forwards in the Premier League with his consistent performances.

While he prefers playing up top as a number nine, he is equally effective in a number ten role and can even feature on the flanks if needed. He has been involved in a total of 31 matches this season and has contributed towards 20 goals (16 goals, 4 assists).

He has certainly had his disciplinary issues but his performances have put him on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in the country. Arsenal are one of the clubs that are keen on signing the 25-year-old Brazilian.

While his contract at Wolves runs until the summer of 2029, his departure is almost certain as he looks to take the next step in his career. The Gunners seek more quality in the final third and Mikel Arteta considers him to be an interesting option to bolster his attack.

United have won the race to sign Cunha

However, it seems rivals Manchester United have beaten them to his signature. The Red Devils reportedly have an agreement in place to sign the Brazilian international.

Ruben Amorim is keen on adding more firepower to his attack. He wants a proven goal scorer to lead his attack and with Jadon Sancho, Antonty and Marcus Rashford likely to leave the club permanently, they certainly need more options in the final third.

United are all set to pay his €62.5 million release clause. With the negotiations already finalised, the deal should be complete at the end of the season, even before the transfer window opens. Cunha could be a great addition to Amorim’s squad as he will add goals, creativity as well as a lot of experience to their attack.
