According to an update by Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett, Beto is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are scouring the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window. So, the Everton centre-forward has emerged as a target for the Premier League-bound club.
Beto has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Everton from Udinese in August 2023. A native of Lisbon, the experienced striker spent his formative years in Portugal, passing through the academies at three outfits while embarking on three spells with URD Tires, the club he turned professional at nearly a decade ago.
However, the 27-year-old rose in prominence during his spell with Udinese despite spending only two years with the Serie A club. As for his spell with Everton, the player was in and out of the starting lineup in his first 18 months at Goodison Park but has become the first-choice striker this season.
The Guinea-Bissau international has contributed to 12 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net 11 times and providing one assist. Meanwhile, the former Udinese striker’s progress this season has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Leeds United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.
Leeds United’s interest in Beto is understandable. The Whites are combing the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window after not having a highly productive centre-forward this season. While Joel Piroe has been excellent thus far, Patrick Bamford has struggled with fitness issues while becoming inconsistent in the final third.
So, several candidates, including Jamie Vardy, have emerged on Leeds United’s radar, with the Everton striker also a viable target for the West Yorkshire outfit. The Premier League-bound club will have a sizeable transfer kitty worth over £100 million in the summer transfer window.
So, they should have the funds to secure Beto’s services in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Everton will embark on a squad overhaul in the coming months, with 15 players out of contract on July 1. So, it is unclear if the Merseyside outfit will accept a bid from Leeds United for the 27-year-old Guinea-Bissau international.
