Liverpool rival Manchester City in Nicolo Savona chase

Liverpool will reportedly compete with Manchester City and West Ham United to sign 22-year-old Italian full-back Nicolo Savona from Serie A club Juventus this summer.

According to a report by Italian outlet Tutto Juve, Nicolo Savona is the subject of interest from Liverpool. The Reds are scouring the market for a right-back heading into the summer transfer window as they prepare for life after Trent Alexander-Arnold. However, the Reds face stiff competition from Manchester City and West Ham United for the 22-year-old Juventus full-back.

Nicolo Savona has established himself as one of the best young prospects in Serie A since breaking into the first-team squad at Juventus. A native of Aosta, the young right-back began his youth career with Aygreville but spent most of his formative years at Juventus, having joined the Serie A giants’ academy in 2011.

The 22-year-old rapidly progressed through the ranks at Juventus before breaking into the first-team squad at the onset of the 2024/25 season. Despite being a late bloomer, Savona has made his mark this season, amassing over 2,000 minutes of game time across 36 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with two goals and one assist.

Meanwhile, Savona’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen on signing the Italian full-back, with Liverpool, Manchester City, and West Ham United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Manchester City’s interest in Nicolo Savona is understandable. The Citizens are scouring the market for a right-back heading into the summer transfer window as they prepare to part ways with Kyle Walker. In addition, Rico Lewis has yet to show enough quality to be the undisputed first-choice right-back for Manchester City.

As for Liverpool, Trent Alexander-Arnold will depart from Anfield as a free agent in the summer transfer window. So, Savona has emerged as a viable target for Liverpool as they prepare for life after the 26-year-old Englishman.
