Newcastle United unwilling to sell Harvey Barnes amid Aston Villa links

Newcastle United will not entertain bids to part ways with 27-year-old English winger Harvey Barnes in the summer transfer window amid his links with Aston Villa.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Harvey Barnes is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. Recent updates have suggested that a swap deal between the West Midlands club and Newcastle United involving the English winger and Jacob Ramsey may be on the cards in the summer transfer window. However, the Magpies do not want to part ways with the former Leicester City attacker.

Harvey Barnes has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Newcastle United from Leicester City in July 2023. While the Englishman has shown flashes of brilliance in the last two years, he has been in and out of the starting lineup throughout his spell with the Tyneside outfit.

The 27-year-old has been a solid backup option for Newcastle United this season, stepping up in Anthony Gordon’s absence. Barnes has contributed to 14 goals in 31 Premier League outings thus far in the 2024/25 campaign, finding the back of the net nine times and providing five assists.

Meanwhile, Barnes’s stock in the market remains high, with several well-known clubs setting their sights on him. A move across the Premier League may be on the cards, with Aston Villa among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.

Aston Villa’s interest in Harvey Barnes is understandable. The Villans are scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio. With Aston Villa yet to finalise the permanent deals for either player, they must look for replacements.

In addition, Leon Bailey will likely leave Aston Villa in the summer transfer window. So, several candidates have emerged on the West Midlands club, with Barnes also a viable target.
