Xavi Simons keen on discussing summer move with Liverpool

Xavi Simons would be open to discussing a move with Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, as he seems destined to leave RB Leipzig.

According to TEAMtalk, Xavi Simons is seemingly open to speaking with Liverpool over a potential move in the summer. The Dutch playmaker is destined to leave RB Leipzig after signing a short-term permanent contract with the Bundesliga club back in January, as the Merseysiders are indeed thinking about signing the Bundesliga star.

Xavi Simons may have decided to sign with RB Leipzig permanently from PSG in January, he only did commit to a contract until 2027. That in itself is a clear indication of the playmaker angling for a different challenge ahead of the summer; the upcoming window certainly represents the ideal time for the Bundesliga giants to sell.

Simons reportedly prefers to join a Premier League side, with a host of clubs credited with an interest in the attacking midfielder. The Dutchman can feature as a playmaker as well as a left-winger, while he brings flair and goalscoring prowess into his game, which may come to suit some of the top English sides.

Arsenal have seen links with the Dutchman, while Manchester United might pay heavily if they qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season. RB Leipzig might be open to selling him for around £60 million, although their actual asking price might be significantly higher as the above rate represents a figure close to what they paid to secure him permanently from PSG.

Liverpool are now part of the race for Simons, as they are in the market for an attack-minded midfielder who could also play in the front three. It appears, the Dutchman, valued at £60 million, will be open to holding discussions with Liverpool and other Premier League clubs over a potential move, which will be seen as a big boost for those in charge of the Merseysiders.

Liverpool view Xavi Simons as a Florian Wirtz alternative

Liverpool are very much in the hunt for Florian Wirtz as their marquee signing for the summer transfer window, although they feel he might join Bayern Munich. Hence, the Reds are not eager to get sucked into a transfer saga that could potentially go deep into the window and plan for alternatives if they feel the Bayer Leverkusen star

Hence, they might be inclined to make alternate arrangements for the squad requirement and make an approach for the £60 million-rated RB Leipzig playmaker from the Bundesliga club. Simons could be a solid acquisition for Liverpool, although they must get ahead of the competition at the right time or risk losing him to one of their Premier League rivals.
