According to Fichajes, Manchester United have reportedly failed with an offer to sign Andriy Lunin. The Real Madrid star was the subject of a €15 million offer for the Ukranian stopper, with the Spanish giants demanding at least €20-25 million to sell him in this window.
Manchester United continue to assess the market for a new goalkeeper as they are very much open to selling Andre Onana. The Cameroonian has underperformed and was culpable for high-profile errors that cost the team crucial points on multiple occasions last season.
Monaco are interested in landing Onana this summer, and they have earmarked quite a few notable options as his replacement. Manchester United have preferred Emiliano Martinez as the ideal choice for taking over the No.1 spot, but there are challenges in signing the Argentinian stopper.
Manchester United had opened talks for Martinez, but a massive price point demanded by Aston Villa could force them to look elsewhere. They are indeed looking at other options with Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin coming to the fore as a potential alternative to the Argentine.
Real Madrid did manage to extend the Ukranian’s contract until 2030, but he could still evaluate the sporting situation once the Club World Club draws to a close. Lunin has shown the quality to play on as a starting keeper and might want to do that elsewhere as Thibaut Courtois is nearing a new deal, which could guarantee his status as Real Madrid’s No.2.
Manchester United have reportedly failed with a €15 million offer for the Ukranian keeper. Real Madrid had wanted €20 million or more earlier, with the current price mentioned in the report stating they will demand at least €20-25 million to sell the stopper.
The price point on the €20-25 million-rated Real Madrid ace may still seem reasonable compared to that of Martinez. Hence, there’s every chance that Manchester United might open negotiations with the Spanish giants to finalise a move, as the Ukranian could be on the move this summer to cement a career playing as a first-choice keeper.
