Chelsea make approach for Murillo, price tag revealed

Chelsea will reportedly look to sign 22-year-old Brazilian international Murillo from fellow Premier League club Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Caught Offside, Murillo is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit in the summer transfer window by signing a centre-back. So, the Nottingham Forest defender has emerged as a target for the West London club.

The Premier League giants have “asked Nottingham Forest for updated information” on the highly-rated centre-back. Meanwhile, the Tricky Trees will demand over €80 million to part ways with the South American defender in the summer transfer window.

Murillo and his Premier League journey

Murillo has established himself as one of the best young prospects in the Premier League since joining Nottingham Forest from Corinthians in August 2023. The 22-year-old has come leaps and bounds in the last three years, becoming a mainstay at the back for the Tricky Trees while playing his part in their ascent in the top flight in the 2024/25 season.

The youngster has turned out 75 times thus far for Nottingham Forest while chipping in with two goals and two assists. Meanwhile, the player’s progress at the Premier League club has helped him break into his national side, and he made his senior bow earlier this year. In addition, his exploits have piqued the attention of several top-class clubs, including Chelsea.

London calling?

Murillo has been on Chelsea’s radar for a long time. The continued interest is understandable, considering Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile will likely depart from Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window. So, several candidates, including Jorrel Hato, have emerged on Chelsea’s radar, with the Nottingham Forest centre-back also a viable target.

The Blues have approached Nottingham Forest “for updated information” on the South American defender’s situation in the summer transfer window. However, the young centre-back will not come cheap, with the Tricky Trees demanding over €80 million to part ways with him.

While Nottingham Forest’s asking price of over €80 million might seem excessive, the 22-year-old Brazilian international has the potential to live up to the billing. So, it will be interesting to see if he reinforces Chelsea’s defensive unit in the summer transfer window.
