According to a report from TuttoSport, Jadon Sancho could finally part ways with Manchester United this summer as Juventus are within touching distance of his signature. The Old Lady have recently held talks with the Premier League giants and both clubs have agreed to meet again as they look to close the English international’s transfer to Turin.
Sancho’s sensational rise at Borussia Dortmund forced United to break the bank and acquire his services in the summer of 2021. While the Red Devils had massive expectations from the 25-year-old, he failed to live up to them.
On the back of his struggles on the pitch and a rift with former manager Erik ten Hag, he returned to Dortmund for a short loan stint before joining Chelsea on a season-long loan for the 2024/25 season. While he had a decent spell at the London club and they even had a buy obligation, the Blues paid a fine to avoid signing him permanently.
While Sancho is back at Old Trafford, he has no future there, and with his contract running out in 12 months, United are pushing to offload him. Juventus have emerged as a potential destination. While the Old Lady were initially looking for a swap deal involving Douglas Luiz, the Red Devils were not keen on such a deal.
As a result, the Italian club have been working on a straightforward transfer in recent weeks. They want to add more quality on the right flank and consider Sancho a top target. Their priority is to secure Francisco Conceicao’s services on a permanent basis.
But with them struggling to strike a deal with FC Porto, they seem to have shifted their attention towards Sancho, who could prove to be a valuable alternative thanks to his recent performances. The player is keen on parting ways with United, and he seems ready to accept lower wages to facilitate a move to the Turin-based club.
He is aware that joining the Serie A giants could help him revive his career and be the main man at a top European club. While Sancho seems keen on joining Juventus, the Italian outfit still needs to strike a deal with United.
However, recent developments suggest they are within touching distance. Both clubs had a call yesterday to discuss the transfer, and they have agreed to meet again in the coming days to build on the progress made in the last hours.
There is a general green light for the move, but it is not done yet. Talks are in the final stages, with Juventus looking to gather the resources needed to meet both United’s and the player’s demands.
