According to a report by Caught Offside, Francisco Trincao is the subject of interest from Manchester United. Ruben Amorim is driving the Premier League club’s move for the Sporting CP winger. Meanwhile, Arsenal and Barcelona are also keen on signing the Portuguese international from the Primeira Liga club in the summer transfer window.
Francisco Trincao has resurrected his stuttering career since joining Sporting CP from Barcelona. The Primeira Liga outfit initially signed the former SC Braga winger on loan in July 2022 before completing a permanent move 12 months later. The switch has benefitted the youngster, who had lost his way at FC Barcelona.
The 25-year-old has been exceptional in the 2024/25 season, becoming an assist machine for Sporting CP. Trincao has contributed to 27 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net nine times and providing 18 assists. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Arsenal, Barcelona, and Manchester United.
Barcelona will dip into the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window. With Ansu Fati failing to win over Hansi Flick, the Catalan giants need a new option for the flanks to ease the burden on Raphinha and Lamine Yamal. So, the Portuguese international is a viable target for Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s interest in Francisco Trincao is understandable. The Gunners are combing the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window as they aim to reduce the over-dependence on Bukayo Saka in the 2025/26 season. So, the Sporting CP winger is an option worth considering.
As for Manchester United, while Ruben Amorim does not use wingers in his system, Trincao can be a multi-faceted solution in the offensive unit for the Red Devils. Amorim wants Manchester United to sign the former Barcelona winger in the summer transfer window.
Barcelona, Arsenal, and Manchester United are not the only clubs that are pursuing Trincao’s signature. Juventus, Manchester City, and Newcastle United are also keen on signing the 25-year-old Portuguese international. So, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the Sporting CP assist machine.
