Napoli in talks with Liverpool for Darwin Nunez

Napoli are in talks for wantaway Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez as Antonio Conte seeks a new centre-forward in the summer.

According to Tutto Napoli, Darwin Nunez has Napoli as his suitor ahead of the summer with the Uruguayan likely to leave Liverpool. Arne Slot does not count on the centre-forward, as his adversary in Italy, Antonio Conte could weigh in a move as talks over a move commence.

There’s an air of change anticipated at Anfield with Arne Slot set to be given the funds to shape the team as per his specifications. One of the primary objectives for the Dutch manager is reshaping his attacking setup, are Liverpool could ponder a few exits.

One of them could be Darwin Nunez, with Liverpool open to selling the ineffective Uruguayan forward after a dismal season under Arne Slot. The manager has not preferred to start him in a leading role, instead choosing Diogo Jota or Luis Diaz as his starting striker in most games this season.

Nunez does have a few suitors, with Napoli the latest to enter the race ahead of the summer. The Serie A leaders are contemplating bringing in a new centre-forward in the window, with the report stating that the club now considers Nunez as an alternative to free agent Jonathan David.

Napoli have been weighing in on a move for Nunez, as Conte looks to shape up the team ahead of the new season when there will be Champions League football at Napoli. Talks are underway with Liverpool over a deal as much will depend on the striker’s asking rate as well as the willingness to make the move to Italy.

Napoli keen on attacking signings

Not only are Napoli angling a move for Nunez, but they also have other targets on their list. The Serie A giants are eager to shape their attacking setup as they seek to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia properly since his winter departure while there are do=ubts over the future of David Neres.

Napoli are interested in Alejandro Garnacho and views the Argentine as a priority target in the summer. They failed to sign the Manchester United star back in January, as they are ready to make another attempt in the close season. Signing him as well as Nunez will represent a successful window for the Naples side, as Conte would probably push for those signings.
