Mohammed Kudus likelier to join Saudi Pro League club instead of Arsenal, Liverpool

Mohammed Kudus is reportedly expected to move to the Saudi Pro League from West Ham United in the summer transfer window amid his links with Arsenal and Liverpool.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Mohammed Kudus is the subject of interest from the Saudi Pro League. Arsenal and Liverpool are also keen on signing the West Ham United attacker in the summer transfer window. However, he will likely move to the Middle East in the coming months.

Meanwhile, the Ghanaian international has a release clause worth £84 million in his contract with West Ham United. However, the East London club may accept a bid of around £65-70 million to part ways with Kudus in the summer transfer window.

Mohammed Kudus and his career so far

Mohammed Kudus has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining West Ham United from Ajax in August 2023. While the 24-year-old was exceptional in his debut season and scored goals for fun at different junctures, he has blown hot and cold in the 2024/25 campaign thus far.

Kudus has managed only four goals and four assists in 33 appearances across all competitions thus far in the 2024/25 season. However, the African attacker’s spell with West Ham may end in the summer transfer window, with his release clause of £84 million making him an appealing cash cow. Arsenal and Liverpool have been among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.

A man in demand

Arsenal’s interest in Mohammed Kudus is understandable. The Gunners have been over-dependent on Bukayo Saka in the final third, creating the need for a productive attacker. So, the West Ham United forward is a viable target for Arsenal, although triggering his release clause of £84 million is an issue for the North London club.

It is also an issue for Liverpool, and the Reds do not want to cough up £84 million to sign the 24-year-old Ghanaian international. So, while Kudus is a viable target for Liverpool, a summer move may not see the light of day. Instead, the West Ham attacker will likely move to the Saudi Pro League in the summer transfer window.

While West Ham may accept a bid worth around £65-70 million instead of holding out for £84 million, Arsenal and Liverpool may not be in the race anymore. So, it will be interesting to see if Kudus moves to Saudi Arabia, thus enabling West Ham to beef up the transfer kitty for the summer transfer window.
