Everton in transfer tussle to sign Elias Jelert

Everton will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old Danish right-back Elias Jelert from Turkish club Galatasaray in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Turkish outlet Yenicag Gazetesi, Elias Jelert is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are scouring the market for a right-back heading into the summer transfer window as they prepare for a squad overhaul. So, the 21-year-old wide player has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit.

Who is Elias Jelert?

Elias Jelert has come leaps and bounds since joining Galatasaray from FC Copenhagen last summer. A native of Virum, the Dane spent his formative years in his homeland, starting his youth career at his hometown clubs Virum-Sorgenfri Boldklub before graduating from the academy at FC Copenhagen.

While the 21-year-old has not been an undisputed first-choice starter during his spell with Galatasaray thus far, he has made his mark in his limited opportunities. Jelert has not even managed 1,500 minutes of game time for the Turkish Super Lig champions, but he has been impressive in his 33 outings across all competitions and chipped in with one goal.

Meanwhile, the Danish wide player has piqued the attention of several well-known clubs with his progress at Galatasaray. Spanish outfits are keen on signing Jelert from the Turkish Super Lig champions in the summer transfer window. However, Everton will aim to beat the competition to his signature.

Premier League adventure beckons?

Everton’s interest in Elias Jelert is understandable. The Toffees are scouring the market for a right-back heading into the summer transfer window as they prepare to part ways with Ashley Young. In addition, Seamus Coleman is in the twilight of his career, while Nathan Patterson has struggled with fitness issues throughout his spell with Everton.

So, several candidates, including Georgios Vagiannidis, have emerged on Everton’s radar, with Jelert also a viable target. However, the Merseyside outfit will face stiff competition from several Spanish clubs for the Danish full-back’s signature in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that the Toffees have submitted an offer to secure the Dane’s services in the summer transfer window. The youngster will not cost a bomb, and Galatasaray will demand around €9 million to part ways with him in the coming weeks.
