According to an update by reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Armando Broja could be on the move this summer amidst interest from multiple Bundesliga clubs. RB Leipzig and VfL Wolfsburg are both keen on signing the young Albanian striker, who is not really an important part of Chelsea’s first-team plans.
Broja has been a part of the Chelsea setup since his childhood days. He got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2022 but has not really had enough opportunities to cement his spot in the team.
While the Blues only had limited opportunities in the final third for the 2024/25 season, they still decided to send the 23-year-old out on loan to Everton. He certainly expected to have a prominent role at the Merseyside club, but things did not go according to plan for him as he struggled to stay fit.
The youngster was involved in just 11 first-team fixtures and racked up less than 400 minutes. Armando Broja is set to return to his parent club, with Everton having no intention of making the move permanent. While he still has three years left on his Stamford Bridge contract, he does not appear to have a future at the London club.
The Blues already have Nicolas Jackson in their ranks, and they are pushing to sign a world-class number nine who can challenge him for a place in the XI. Broja is not a part of Enzo Maresca’s plans going forward, as a result, the Blues could be open to his departure.
Since Armando Broja is an academy graduate, he will represent pure profit, helping them balance their books. The 23-year-old is currently valued at around €20 million and there is interest in him from the Bundesliga.
Despite his injury struggles and poor form, RB Leipzig and VfL Wolfsburg are willing to bet on Broja. With Benjamin Sesko’s future up in the air, the Albanian striker could help Leipzig cover for him. Meanwhile, Wolfsburg seek more depth and quality in the final third and he could prove to be a valuable addition in the long run.
The Chelsea forward’s future is certainly one to watch out for. Several Bundesliga clubs have already enquired about him and the Blues seem open to his departure. With Leipzig and Wolfsburg closely monitoring him, it will be interesting to see if either of the clubs makes a move for him.
