Alejo Veliz made to wait to seal Rosario Central return

Rosario Central remains in wait on Tottenham’s decision on Alejio Veliz as the Argentine side are eager to lure their former striker back to the club.

According to Pagina 12, Rosario Central are frustrated by the lack of decision-making from Tottenham on Alejio Veliz’s future. The underperforming striker is open to making a return to his old club following, who are eager to bring him on a loan deal, something Spurs are skeptical about.

Alejio Veliz has not found his rhythm in European football since making his move from Rosario Central to Tottenham. The striker was hyped to achieve big things having been considered one of the highly rated prospects coming out of Argentina.

Tottenham paid a reported £13 million fee back in 2023 from Rosario Central and has since experienced two underwhelming loan spells in La Liga. First up, it was a drab spell at Sevilla where he made six appearances in the league without scoring a goal.

The appearances in his second spell in La Liga improved, having made 27 league appearances for Espanyol, but he only managed to find the net once. Hence, Spurs have not found any real interest in the market for a striker, although Rosario Central are willing to take him back.

The Argentine side are struggling with many injuries, with a striker seen as essential at the start of their season. Hence, they are willing to make a financial effort and ask Tottenham to loan them the player for a fee, something Tottenham were eager to block.

Spurs have not decided on the striker, with the expectation pointing towards the club only willing to evaluate his situation in July. This has frustrated Rosario Central in their efforts to re-sign the player, as they are hoping no other club comes in with an offer that could change the player’s mind.

Alejio Veliz keen on Rosario Central return

Rosario Central have been waiting on Tottenham’s response on their approach to re-sign the 21-year-old whizkid. However, Spurs are yet to decide as they are hoping for a better offer to come forth in the time remaining in the transfer window.

Veliz, for his part, is keen on making a return to his former club, as Rosario Central are now expected to keep pushing to get an answer from Tottenham. It’s clear that the 21-year-old whizkid’s time in Europe has not worked, although the reason why Spurs might be delaying a decision might be linked with their thinking about potentially selling the striker rather than loaning him again.
