Leeds United in talks to sign Habib Diarra from RC Strasbourg

Leeds United will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old Senegalese international Habib Diarra from Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Fabrizio Romano on Give Me Sport, Habib Diarra is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are eager to bolster their midfield unit in the summer transfer window as they prepare for the challenge to remain in the Premier League. So, the 21-year-old RC Strasbourg skipper has emerged as a target for the West Yorkshire outfit.

The Whites have begun negotiations to sign the African midfielder in the summer transfer window. However, while Diarra is “one of the most appreciated options internally” at Leeds United, the newly promoted Premier League club will not have a straightforward charge due to RC Strasbourg’s valuation, which remains unknown.

Habib Diarra and his rise

Habib Diarra has established himself as one of the best young midfield prospects in Ligue 1 since breaking into the first-team squad at RC Strasbourg. The Guediawaye native graduated from the youth division at RC Strasbourg and has come leaps and bounds in the last few years.

The Senegalese international has turned out over 100 times thus far for the Ligue 1 club while chipping in with 11 goals and ten assists. Meanwhile, Diarra’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. However, a move to the Premier League may be on the cards, with Leeds United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Leeds United’s interest in Habib Diarra is understandable. The Whites are combing the market for a versatile midfielder coming into the summer transfer window as they prepare to sustain the challenge of remaining in the Premier League. While Ilia Gruev and Ao Tanaka have been impressive for Leeds United, Daniel Farke needs more options in the middle of the park.

So, several candidates, including Valentin Atangana, have emerged on Leeds United’s radar, with Diarra also a viable target for the West Yorkshire outfit. However, while the RC Strasbourg skipper is “one of the most appreciated options internally” at Elland Road, the move will not be straightforward due to RC Strasbourg’s valuation, which remains unknown.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that while the situation is complicated, the Whites are trying to seal the deal. So, it will be interesting to see if the 21-year-old Senegalese international joins Leeds United in the summer transfer window.
